In the story “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains”, the author made the point that if there are no people left on Earth, time will still go on. Since the theme is that time will go on, Bradbury has the house keeping the people that are not there anymore, on track and on time. Even though there is a very good chance that none of this will happen, such as a nuclear war that would end all of the human population, Bradbury made it clear that time itself won't stop and that time will move on even when the human race ends. When the human population dies off, like in the story, houses and other means of protection will continue to function without the needs of people. The house in the story kept running continuously without the needs of human population. The house kept making breakfast and filling baths even though no one was there anymore. Even when the human population is wiped out, the house in the story kept running nonstop like the owners still lived there even though no one was there anymore. Since the author said that the city had a radioactive glow and the owners shapes were still on the house, those are two clues that state that the city had a nuke dropped on it and it wiped out most the entire city. Since the house kept running without the needs of human population, the house kept making the same food, and filling the baths exactly the same without anyone to enjoy those qualities. The house also told the time and date many time with no on to listen. Ray Bradbury did a very good job saying that time will always go on by having the house tell the time and do the chores for the people that are not there anymore.
