Advanced Technology is proven to be productive to society in Ray Bradbury's “There Will Come Soft Rains” and Ally Condie's Matched because it is more orderly than humans.
Ray Bradbury's short story “Soft Rains” features a totally automated residence that replaces all human touch. The automated house is shown to be intelligent and has several amenities such as automated clock and food burners. One of the house’s characteristics is when it states that the “tiny robot mice darted. The rooms were a crawl with the small cleaning animals, all rubber and metal… Sucking gently at hidden dust. Then, like mysterious invaders, they popped into their burrows. Their …show more content…

This is demonstrated when the matching system is described, in that it offers “optimal” (Condie 44) and healthy connections. The productivity of the matching system is expressed when it is said that “The Goal Of the Matching is twofold: to provide the healthiest possible future citizens for our society and to provide the best chances for interested citizens to experience successful family life. It is of the utmost importance to society that the Matches be as optimal as possible” (Condie 44) The explanation of the matching system emphasizes the value of “healthy” (Condie 44) couples in society. Then, like mysterious invaders, they popped into their burrows. Their pink electric eyes faded. The house was clean” (Bradbury 1). As the robotic mice clean the home, they are shown to be productive as well as efficient in their job. Bradbury highlights this when he states that “their pink electric eyes faded, the house was clean”. In contrast to this, when a human cleans a house, it is a more time consuming effort with less sufficient results. However, when the robotic mice execute their labor, they clean the house in less time with better results. This points back to the idea that advanced technology is beneficial rather than
