Oscar Deolarte Social Studies:3, English:2 2/22/16 Relocation Camps Unjustified On December 7, 1942 the Japanese attacked an American naval base on Hawaii called Pearl Harbor. This surprise attack on the Pacific fleet left the West Coast open to a potential attack which could have no retaliation due to the decimated fleet numbers. The U.S government then issued Executive Order 9066, which required the relocation of the Japanese and anyone of Japanese descent living in the U.S. That leads us to the controversy surrounding the evacuation. For many Jews in the 1940’s, Auschwitz and Buna were a living nightmare. There were many scenes, ideas and feelings that were unforgettable for me. The first scenes that I found shocking were when Elie Wiesel saw the bodies of babies being thrown in a flame. I couldn’t imagine watching small, innocent bodies being treated like that. Second, the lack of mercy at the concentration camp were unbelievable.

The goal of ghettos established as temporary; however, they lasted for days, weeks, or years. Three types of ghettos made up the Holocaust: closed, open, and destruction.

The Holocaust have many individuals that believe what the Nazi did to the Jews was blown out of proportion. These groups of people state that the Nazis did not kill as many as the six million Jews that were reported murdered by the Nazi party, that the ovens the party used to kill Jews did not exist at all or were used for different purposes or that the film used after the war depicting the war crimes by the party was actually manipulated by the Allies against the Nazi party as propaganda. However, the Nazis did actually kill over six million Jews and the ovens in fact were used to exterminate the Jews while at these camps and due to the horrific reality of the situation, people are made to believe that this mass extermination of a ethnic group did not exist.

The Nazis had a plan called the System of Death where they told all the Jews that they were going to take showers and clean off and the Nazis took them to a medium sized room where they all stripped down getting ready for showers.
