In The Glass Castle, Rex and Rosemary Walls can be categorized as permissive parents. Rex and Rosemary’s parenting style is permissive because they approach their children as more of a friend than a parental figure, they do not discipline their kids, and they have few demands expected from their kids. The Walls parents act more of a friend than a parent to their kids due to their easygoing nature. Rex brushes off Jeanette's complaint regarding Robbie’s inappropriate touching and does not take action as a normal parent should. Rex had the opportunity to punish Robbie for his behavior but decided not to: “I’m sure he just pawed you some, I knew you could handle yourself” (Walls 213).
In the novel, Freakonomics, Levitt and Dubner share their ideas regarding the way people withhold information when it comes to publicly display their image. By connecting data from a gameshow and statistics from dating sites, the authors come to a conclusion that while discrimination remains present, it is a quality most people attempt to conceal. The way the authors present and connect their ideas is done effectively with the great use of logic, evidence and organization. Levitt and Dubner make sure to logically describe instances of discrimination that take place in real life situations. For example, they claim that the voting strategy in the game show The Weakest Link, is being influenced by unfair judgements to another player’s identity.

This method allows the parent to self-regulate, understand their child’s behavior, offer them a solution, and still have a consequence for that behavior. All of that without escalation, yelling, hitting, etc., which are critical points in this method; understanding and natural consequences. This parenting method is actually called authoritative parenting, but it's been commonly called and known as "Gentle Parenting". This method of parenting is known for how it values teaching children emotional intelligence and empathy by how parents show a level of warmth and understanding towards the child even in moments of bad behavior or tantrums and meltdowns.
How Democratic Is the American Constitution? Robert A. Dahl wrote a book that critically analyses the much respected constitution of the United States of America. The author examines the democratic nature of the American Constitution both in the way it was enacted and whether it contains principles of democracy in it (Dahl, 2003, p.1). The entire book has been dedicated to highlighting various aspects of the American constitution more especially the historical views of the document. From the onset sets it clear that the aim of his book is not to propose changes to the American constitution but to suggest changes in the way Americans think about their constitution (Dahl, 2003, p. 1).
There are many situations that using authoritarian parenting style could benefit many children who are minority. Using this strict and high strung parenting style could help these children succeed in life. Without being strict on them, they may end up hanging out around a bad crowd of people. Also, not being strict as a minority parent could lead them to not reaching for their dreams. So, therefore, the authoritarian

The positively demonstrated authoritarian parent is strict. They have a set a rules and they demand their rules be followed. They don’t leave room for mistake and expect the very best for their children. An example of this type of parenting could be if a teenager arrives a few minutes late home from curfew.
I want to explain mainly what the parenting style are. According to Baumrind and her colleagues, there are three parenting styles. These are authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive parenting styles. Baumrind focused on communication and interaction between parents and child. Authoritarian parenting style; parents who have an authoritarian parenting style set strict rules for their children and rules are important for these parents.
Baumrind’s style of caregiving is composed of mainly four different styles: authoritarian, permissive, authoritative, uninvolved. Authoritarian parenting is defined as an approach to a child rearing that is characterized by high behavioral standards, strict punishment of misconduct, and little communication (Berger 299). An example is if a child is playing with a toy and the caregiver asks to pick up all of the toys if not you will get time out. If the child chooses not to listen parent strictly enforces time out on the child. Permissive is an approach to a child rearing that is characterized by high nurturance and communication, but little discipline, guidance or control (Berger 299).
First Authoritarian, since they are high in demandingness their expectations for their child are tremendous. They are those parents who have your best interest at heart but sometimes have a hard way of showing it. As reported by Vanderbilt’s Psychology department, these types of parents usually set goals that are out of their child’s reach and also depend heavily on disciplining their child in order to teach them a lesson. Being that this parenting style is low in responsiveness they are not the type of parent you would talk to about your
How to parent an eight-year-old? Well lucky for me I have one that I live with every day. Parenting style is something that I believe you develop over time. We take things we see from those around us, how we grew up and sometimes we just figure out what works best for us through trial and error. Our texts breaks parenting down in through groups Authoritarian, Permissive, and Authoritative.
Like permissive parents, authoritative parents are responsive, nurturing, and involved. But unlike permissive parents, authoritative parents don’t let their children get away with bad behaviour. Authoritative parents take a firm stand, anticipating that their kids should carry on dependably. Like tyrant guardians, legitimate guardians uphold rules. As a psychologist, I feel that authoritative parenting style helps in developing their social behaviour while authoritarian degrades it.
