The novel The Once and Future King by T. H. White features a character named Merlyn, who is a wizard and also a mentor for the Wart. He teaches Wart skills that are important for a ruler to have by turning him into different animals and sending him on adventures. Abstract This leadership paper discusses three supervisory techniques that Michael Scott, the fictional character portrayed by Steve Carell in the television series “The Office”, uses as Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. It introduces the three techniques and provides examples from the TV series to support my claim that he uses them. Furthermore, this paper will answer questions regarding my opinion on if the techniques are effective or not, what I would have done differently, if anything, and which trait I relate to most.
Throughout Ken Kesey’s, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the balance of power is challenged in the psychiatric ward. Out of the several leaders that appear in the novel, Nurse Ratched and McMurphy are the most prominent. During Nurse Ratched and McMurphy struggle for power, they share many of the same qualities. It is argued that: “McMurphy and Ratched are alike in intelligence, military service, distinctive (if opposite) clothing, and conventionally masculine qualities” (Evans). These small similarities; however, do not distract the characters from fighting for their individual beliefs.
With injustice and cruelty running rampant in the world, it is unsurprising that people become determined to make things better for tomorrow. The cliché saying that the ends justify the means is often quoted by those aware of the moral greyness of their actions. Commendable yet unreasonable, leaders whose sole purpose in life is to fix what they see as “wrong” with the world fall prey to thinking there is only ally or enemy. In the long run, they harm those they try to liberate.
Leadership Abuse in Lord of the Flies The famous 17th century poet Jean de la Fontaine once said “Anyone entrusted with power will abuse it if not also animated with the love of truth and virtue, no matter whether he be a prince, or one of the people.” When the children in Lord of the Flies find themselves stranded on a distant island with no adults to be found, they encounter many forms of power, hence encountering many forms of abuse of power as well. This power abuse can be organized by the two leaders who each ruled the island during their own periods. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding utilizes these leaders, Ralph and Jack, to illustrate how people in positions of power will abuse their power for personal gain when given the opportunity.

Leadership and roles are depicted throughout the whole movie by many different jurors. The designated leader of the jury group was Juror #1. Juror #1 was when they first entered into the room but Juror #8 took the emergent role when he declined to agree with a guilty verdict. His rejection to agree in a guilty verdict was crucial since he voiced his uncertainty to the evidence at a early stage.
Government has the authority to lead the people, but there is an extent of their control. The novel Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, depicts a dystopian world of extreme crime and violence. However, while the depicted society does condemn violence, it also facilitates the destruction of humanity and the autonomy of individuals. When a human is depersonalized and stripped of their free will, they are simply the “clockworks” under the control of their oppressors. They are no longer a person; rather, they are the robot that is programmed to give more power to the government.
The movie that I had chosen was Disney movie, Mulan. In this movie, Fa Mulan, as the only daughter in her family, she took the place of her father to participate in the war as a man without telling her family.
