The Demand of Automotive Technicians
“The first Automobile to be mass produced in the United States was the 1901, Curved Dash Oldsmobile, built by the American car manufacturer Ransome Eli Olds” (Bellis pg.2) Ever since the beginning of the first mass produced Automobiles the demand for Automotive Technicians and mechanics has grown. The vehicles would end up breaking and no one would know how to fix them besides the manufacturers themselves. Normally buyers of automobiles didn’t know how to repair and maintain their vehicles so they would search around for someone else to do so. Technicians that can repair, and maintenance brake systems are important for the safety of car owners to lessen the risk of their brakes going out causing an accident. “Brake technicians diagnose brake system problems, adjust brakes, replace brake rotors and pads, and make other repairs on brake systems.”(Automotive service technicians pg.2) A knowledgeable technician can perform a brake job within a few hours or less depending on the type of brake system. If a vehicle overheats that is also something else that should be checked out by a technician because if a vehicles engine temperature gets too hot the driver is at risk of being harmed by the engine blowing up and possible fire occurring. If an engine overheats the vehicle can be inspected and the problem can be solved before anything bad happens. Without them our automobiles would be fixed like they used to be by the dealers, and would most likely take many days for our vehicles to come back. “Technicians are needed to keep all of the equipment running, and that includes about 193 million cars, trucks, and buses.” (Weber pg.7) The more and more technologically advanced vehicles there will be a higher demand for the properly trained people to work on them the right way the first time.
