I personally feel that Avid Life Media (ALM) is not behaving in a socially responsible manner. The Ashley Madison website, which is ran by Avid Life Media, openly promotes adultery and infidelity. Such behavior can be interpreted as an unethical means in which to practice business. In order to achieve and comply in a socially responsible manner, ethical concerns should be incorporated into the foundation of a business (Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2013). I feel that this can be validated in regards to the actual behavior rather than the leakage of data. The Ashley Madison hack cannot define Avid Life Media as not behaving in a socially responsible manner. With that said, the ethics of the actual behavior promoted must absorb responsibility.
