The movie Radio is about a high school football coach (Coach Jones) and his relationship he makes with a mentally handicapped person (Radio) who is always walking around his school. Throughout the movie, Coach Jones has people resist his and this mentally handicapped man’s relationship. Coach Jones lets Radio help him out with running the football team and after the season is over Coach Jones decides that he wants to continue to mentor Radio. Coach Jones is also a teacher and the athletic director of the high school so he tries to get Radio involved with day to day school activities. The movie shows the evolution of Coach Jones and Radio and the audience sees an internal struggle that Coach Jones has with his priorities.
I find the Stolen Generation video and article to be sad. Like one of the key speakers in the video mentioned, as kids they did not know what was going on. They had people telling them what to say and think. They were their slaves. The opening scene, Home: portrays a teenage girl’s wishes to escape the boundaries of childhood and maturity as she ventures through the walls a Shadowland. In the video we watched, Fulton J Sheen explained angels better than anyone else could. I didn’t know who he was or what he did before that class but now I am extremely impressed by how he explained the ideas the church teaches. It is about a woman, named Adaline Bowmen, who is driving to her parents’ house to pick up her daughter, and she wrecks her car, and lands in a body of water. A lightning bolt flashes down into the body of water and sends the bolts through Adaline’s body, making her age, and appearance, freeze in time, at twenty-nine years old. The Age of Adaline is based off of the book, with the same title. Adaline becomes her daughter’s “friend,” or at least that is how they introduce her.
