8.2.1- In 1097 an estimated 100,000 men enlisted in the first crusade, due to the fact that the pope promised salvation from purgatory if they joined the pilgrimage to Jerusalem to liberate the Holy Land. Peter the Hermit left, to the Holy Land, with 30,000 peasants, they terrorized Jews in Germany, and Christians in Bulgaria, when they got to Constantinople they were transported to Bosphorus and the Seljuk Turks defeated them, and the living were sold into slavery. After a five-week siege Jerusalem fell on July 15, 1099, the first crusade was a success, and because most crusaders were younger sons of nobles (Oldest gets the kingdom), they made four Crusader states based on the French Feudal model: the Country of Edessa, the Principality of Antioch, the Country of Tripoli, and the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. 8.2.2-
I think that Freeman Fracus did not violate the charter, and that all the charges should be dismissed. Mr. Fracus had posted onto his facebook, his opinion on his mathematics teacher Mr. Massolano. In this post he compared Massolano to the italian dictator; Benito Mussolini. Although I agree this post could be a little offensive, I do not think it violates the charter. Fracus has a right express his opinion, it is written under section 2(b) of the charter, no matter how rude or insulting the opinion is everyone has the right to speak their mind whether in person or online.
At this time in the Crusades, their mail and helmets did sparkle. But, her emperor father was more concerned than impressed. Should Bohemond or any other Crusader commander assault the Byzantines, he prepared his own strategy. Alexios had the good fortune that the Crusaders had no desire to battle the Byzantines. Constantinople served as only a staging area for the many forces to assemble and replenish; their objective was Jerusalem.
Dysfunctional Families William Shakespeare’s Hamlet presents two families who are dysfunctional. The first family and the main one is Hamlet’s family. Queen Gertrude and King Claudius got married very fast after Hamlet’s dad died and even though they are not related by blood, they are still related by martial bonds. This means that their marriage is considered incest.
In Arthur Miller’s book The Crucible, Abigail is the one to blame. This book took place in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. 1692 was a period of time where which trial took place, and in Arthur Miller’s book eighteen year old Abigail Williams is the blame behind it all. Abigail is lustful, arrogance, mendacity and is now the blame behind this story. Abigail’s flaw of lustful goes along with the affair that her and john proctor had going on at one point.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you are here because one person in this courtroom decided to take law into her own hands. The defendant, Mrs. Dominique Stephens, murdered the man that she vowed to love. This sole act by the defendant is violation of all morals and her husband’s right to live. Afterwards, she even felt guilty about this violation of justice and called the cops on herself, and she later signed a written statement stating that she is guilty of the murder of Mr. Donovan Stephens. Then the defendant later recanted this statement and said that she only killed Mr. Stephens in self defense.
The Crusades were a violent series of battles that Christians fought against Muslims in order to gain back the holy land, Jerusalem. The Christians felt threatened by the intimidating rule of the Islamic Empire, and their response was the first Crusade. These attacks continued and grew unsuccessful throughout many years, and are often due to the intense bond between Christians and God, however there are other influences, like wealth and power. Some argue also that the actions committed during these events were not necessarily “barbaric”, considering the historical time period. The Crusades should be remembered as a series of attacks with a variety of motives and influences that were violent and barbaric.
In The Crucible, there could be many suspects to blame for the innocent deaths that happened in Salem. Proctor could be blamed for the innocent deaths because he lied about his affair with Abigail. Speaking of Abigail... in my opinion Abigail Williams is the one to blame for the innocent deaths because of the lies she told, the accusations she made, and the affair she had with John Proctor. Abigail Williams told many, many lies in The Crucible. The reason the witch trials began in the first place was because of the lie she told about being in the woods.
The First Crusade resulted in the Roman Catholic Church retaking Jerusalem. The Second Crusade was started as a response of the County of Edessa, a state made by the First Crusade, falling by the forces of the Islamic leader Zengi. This Crusade was created by Pope
The Turks kept all Jewish and Christian pilgrims from entering the city. The Emperor of the Byzantine Empire did not take this lightly and ordered the Crusade. It wasn't easy, but the Crusaders were successful in capturing the Holy Land. They then slaughtered tens of thousands of its inhabitants. These crusades continued for about two hundred years, leaving many innocent lives lost to the sword of those wearing the cross.
Rachel Groome Period 1 The Crucible Many trials were held due to accusations of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. A few held more responsibility for the trials than others. In The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, the Puritans of Salem were sometimes falsely accused or guilty of witchcraft. The characters that held most responsibility for the trials were Abigail Williams, Reverend Hale, and Reverend Parris.
The Crusades were expeditions done by the Roman Catholic Church in alliance with Middle-Age Kingdoms and Empires. There were a total of nine Crusades during the period of 1095 to 1291, led by Saladin, Richard I "the Lionheart" of England, Pope Urban II, Frederick I the Holy Roman Emperor, etc. At first, the Crusades were a way to fight back the Muslims for their conquest of Jerusalem. The idea of the Crusade was a very good marketing strategy by Pope Urban II. It was told that any Crusader would be rewarded a place in heaven, and forgiven their sins.
Many politicians tried to offer a compromise that would please both the North and the South but none of them worked long-term. The biggest attempt was made by Henry Clay who put forth the basis for the Compromise of 1850 which consisted of 5 steps. “Admit California as a free state... Allow the residents of the New Mexico and Utah territories to decide the slavery issue for themselves. End the slave trade in the District of Columbia.
People rebel when no justice being served. It is understandable why people act a certain way. Have you ever loved someone more than yourself? A person is your biggest pride and joy to be safe? Can you imagine how it feels to no longer have your pride and joy with in a split second, due to the way they look?
It took just forty five days for United States citizens to acquiesce their rights to freedom and privacy for the sake of safety following the events of September 11, 2001. Forty five days is how long it took the United States Congress to pass a law that gave up the very concept of liberty upon which this country is founded. The morning sky was a brilliant shade of blue with not a cloud in sight in New York on that fateful day of September. That all changed at 8:45 AM when a Boeing 767 jet plane tore into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Eighteen minutes later, a second Boeing 767 bit into the sixtieth floor of the south tower.
