There were many books banned because of the way it presented itself at the time it was published in. The book “Candide” by Voltaire is a perfect example of this type of book. It promoted slavery, challenged armies, and philosophers. This also caused the disruption of religion's ideals, and controversial issues. It promoted the unfair treatment of women, rape, murder, suicide, slavery, theft, and cannibalism. According to “Candide”.Time.com.September 28, 2008.February 03, 2016., the book was banned for the use of the “n” words. This was significant because at the time slavery was very current and despite the efforts of slave to change that, the book didn't help. It also caused people to see how unfair Pl slaves were treated which wasn't a good thing because the masters would be painted and criminals in the eyes of society. The use of the “n” word was a reason for the book to be banned because a parent wouldn't want their kids reading and learning about how their parents treated other human being.
