You say to your soldier, 'Do this' and he does it. But I am obliged to say to the American, 'This is why you ought to do this' and then he does it”. This is a quote from Baron von Steuben he is basically saying that he gives them a reason of they should do this so he can understand. This is the life and events that happen during baron von steuben's life time. Baron von Steuben’s early life lead him into meeting people from America that could use his military experience for help during the revolution,then once the war was over he settled into the new country that he helped free. As he arrives he immediately sets the army into close-order drill. The colonists gain new confidence in the fight against britain with the new skills that they have learned. After molding the continental army into a new and improved war machine it was time to take it to the battlefield. After the revolution ended so did baron von steuben's career as an officer in the army. Life of war and military training drifted away for baron von steuben his new life awaited him in america. Once the revolutionary war was over and done Baron von steuben was commissioned as a major general in the continental army. After his release he was done with his life of war and military and began to start a new one. In this new life there was new people ,new places, and a new language this is where he stays in the United States of America. This is where he will stay to live out the rest of his days in the new now free America. Seeing Baron von Steuben's life in different parts from his childhood, meeting people from america that needed his help to settle down in the same country that he helped shows a lot of how he is. Learning how baron von steuben has trained the continental army, was born in a life of military and then live in america is just some ways of how we can learn of our past.
