A murder is a punishable crime which involves the killing of one person by another. The basic elements of murder include killing someone with the intent to kill, killing someone one with the intent of serious body harm, killing someone with recklessness and killing someone through violence. In order to convict someone of an attempt to murder, there should be strong evidence which shows the suspect took a major step towards the target with the intention to kill. There are multiple court rulings in the past that specify this vital point, ‘direct step’ and not mere preparation. As in the current case scenario, there is no evidence to show that any such attempts been made in order to murder the targeted victim (Theoharis, “Attempted Murder").
Mr. Assin is not guilty of attempting to murder Sally’s husband. On the first-hand, Mr. Assin didn’t even knew about Sally least forget her plans. According to police records, Sally is the actual suspect who wants to kill her husband by a contract killer. Hence, Mr. Assin has been falsely implicated in this case. In real case scenario, Mr. Assin is a victim of mistaken identity. Therefore, Mr. Assin cannot be charged as a convict who attempted to murder Sally’s husband.

However, the economic losses faced by the victims due to property crimes are high. The overall fact remains that violent crimes are serious than property crimes. The results of violent crimes are evident as it brings to serious loss of lives. On the other hand, a property crime brings in a serious financial loss though less harm to lives. As the fact remains, that financial loss is temporary as it can be retained over a period of time. However, loss of life is permanent as it cannot be regained once it’s lost.
