“I have a plan of action, but the game is a game of adjustments,” said one of the best basketball coaches ever, Mike Krzyzewski. With over 1000 wins, Krzyzewski knows the game of basketball. Thus, if he says basketball is a game of change and different players, it must be somewhat true. A game of adjustments, meaning a few strategies, or people might need to change for the better of the team. This is why high school athletic teams should be able to cut players. You must cut players, or you will have an overflowing amount of kids on a team. Say you have 15 kids try out for a basketball team. If you don’t cut anyone, you have 10 kids sitting on a bench at a time. A numerous amount of kids, means less playing time, which leads to people being let down. Therefore, the kids that aren’t the absolute best, won’t receive playing time since there are better ones on the team.
Being cut from the team is a part of life. If you’re the boss of a massive company, you know you need to eradicate others if they aren’t doing their part. You might not want to eliminate them, but you know you must for the better of the company. A better company means about only 2% of resumes are accepted for an interview (Workopolis). Granted, every high school athlete can still come back and try out next year if they are determined enough. You aren’t just banned from playing the sport. If you are determined, you can work harder and be better. If you are determined, you can come back next year. If you are determined, you can become a part of the team next year. Tommy Lasorda, the manager of a professional baseball team the Dodgers for over 30 years once said,“The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination.” Meaning if the person is determined enough for the sport, they can work tirelessly and do it again next
