Battle of the Teutoburg Forest This battle was the fight between Germanic tribes and Rome, it was brought on by a Germanic alliance attacking three Roman legions and their auxiliaries. The army was led by a commander with the name of Arminius and the Roman leader that will fight them is going to be lead by Publius Varus. Publius was to watch over the Germanic tribes, he was looked at by them as the arrogant leader and would disrespect the tribes. Arminius was creating alliances with other tribes to set an attack on the Roman army. Arminius talked to Varus while Varus was moving his army east for the army he told him to move his army through the Teutoburg forest which he said would move his soldiers faster. A nobleman told Varus that Arminius was planning against him, but Varus dismissed it and would go through the forest. While going through the forest he ambushed by Arminius, Varus didn’t send out scouts to check out the forest before going in. Arminius sent out small attacked while the Romans army couldn't form together. Arminius probably knew that the other tribes would join him to attack Varus because of how hated he was by the people. He was also very smart to persuade Varus into going in the forest and making him feel trustworthy to Varus. Varus probably thought that Arminius was trustworthy and would never go against him and even if he did Arminius army would be weak and not able to defeat his army.
