Summary
Vietnam, a country in the Southeast of Asia, was a French colony for years since the late 19th century. During the second world war France lost this colony to Japan, France did not like this and wanted to take their power over Vietnam back.
Vietnam was divided into 2 parts; North Vietnam (communists, big communist party called ‘Vietminh’ led by Ho Chi Minh) and South Vietnam (non-communists, led by Ngo Dinh Diem). The communist regime in North Vietnam was based on those from the Soviet Union and China, where on the other hand, South Vietnam was closely aligned with the U.S. The U.S. helped South Vietnam by giving them lots of weapons, supplies and troops. But at the same time Soviet Union and China were supporting North Vietnam by …show more content…

This war led to many, many deaths, an average total of 2 million.

Option 1:
France and Ho Chi Minh should not try to take the power over Vietnam. If France and Ho Chi Minh would not try this, the situation will be completely different. The conflict about communism could and should be solved politically by the leaders of several countries instead of fighting a war, this will only led to many deaths of troops and innocent people. France should just be ok with the fact they do not had Vietnam as a colony anymore, this is already a bit off, most countries do not have colonies anymore. They should look more to other countries, they do not have colonies aswell.

Option 2:
If option 1, just do not try to take power over Vietnam, does not work you could try the following. Try, for a little while, to have a ceasefire. During this, I would have elections whether people want to be communists or anti-communists. You might ask yourself now, why should I these elections have to be during a ceasefire? This is why, because there is no fighting, people dare to go on the streets and come to the public points where they can vote. But, to make these elections be neutral and correct, people from a different country should count the votes and announce who won these elections.
