The character that I received from the quiz was Beatrice from Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing. This play takes place in Italy and centers around the characters Leonato, Hero, his daughter, and Beatrice, his niece. Leonato welcomes home soldiers from a war whose names are Claudio, Benedick, and Don Jon. After the soldiers return, Claudio falls in love with Hero and Benedick and Beatrice insult each other throughout the play. Many of the characters believe that they should stop arguing and fall in love. Then Don Jon has his companion Borachio make love to Margaret, who is Hero’s serving woman, at Hero’s window at night. Claudio sees it happening and thinks that Hero has been unfaithful so he humiliates her by accusing her of lechery on the day of their wedding. Hero’s family pretends that she died suddenly of shock and to hide her so they can try to show her innocence. After this happens, Benedick and Beatrice finally confess their love.. A night watchmen hears Borachio bragging about his crime and everyone finds out that Hero is innocent and Claudio is saddened by her death. Hero’s father, Leonato, makes Claudio marry his niece and then Hero reveals herself as the masked woman and Claudio becomes joyous. Benedick asks Beatrice to marry him and she happily agrees. The play ends with them all dancing before the celebration of their weddings. …show more content…
