Concept of Depression
The word depression is actually just an umbrella term for a number of different forms, from major depression to atypical depression to dysthymia.
Depression: Causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home. (For example : Thethe death of a loved one, loss of a job or the ending of a relationship are difficult experiences for a person to endure. It is normal for feelings of sadness or grief to develop in response to such situations. Those experiencing loss often might describe themselves as being “depressed.” But being sad is not the same as having depression.

Whether it is depression onset for the first time or a relapse from depression, the same principle applies. Some important ways to fight off and deal with depression include lifestyle changes, like sticking to a balanced diet, sleeping well, thinking positively, keeping oneself occupied and engaged as much as possible, and above all seeing a therapist immediately when in a downward spiral.
