“We’re only young once.” (Proverb). Beckie Holden always was a little bit of a troublemaker when she was younger, but you’re only young once, so might as well live life to the fullest. Her life events have shaped Beckie into the person she is today. On September 17th, 1926, Beckie Holden was born. She grew up in a small town named Morrisville, Vermont. Beckie attended Morrisville Grade School which was where her father went to grade school, and People’s Academy for high school. Beckie’s favorite subjects in school were English and history. In the high school yearbook Beckie always got voted as the one never to be seen without makeup. Her hair was and still is her #1 worry; in high school she wouldn’t care how late it was and would always put pin curlers in her hair every night. She then worked at a hotel restaurant as a waitress in Sto, a town 10 miles south of Morrisville. She was then an insurance proofreader for 18 years. Beckie still gets a pension (a set amount of money paid at regular intervals to a person for a service) from when she was an insurance proofreader. After that she was a home health aid. She said that she had three lovely ladies to care after. Some of Beckie’s favorite memories as a child was in the summer her family lived 5 miles from a lake. Beckie said she has always loved to walk around and even though she has to take it easier these days she still enjoys walking around. But she wouldn’t mind the walk, she would walk there, go swimming, and then walk home. In the winter she would go to Sto, which had a ski resort. She remembers asking her dad for 25 cents and taking the bus to Sto with her lunch sack, and skiing all day. Before she would go home she would buy a hot chocolate and can still remember she would have change
