2014-2015 Common Application Essay Ever since I was little, I have always been fascinated by the things cheerleaders do. I always looked up to those girls, and I always was looking for opportunities to do the activities and skills that they perform. It has always been my dream to become a high school cheerleader, and now it is my dream to become a college cheerleader. This dream I have has shaped me into who I am today with discipline, hard work, and a lot of accomplishments and disappointments. Since I can remember, I have been taking tumbling classes at a gym to build up my skills to become the best I can be. I remember specific memories going to the gym when I was six, and even going to competitions and winning the ribbons and metals they had for all of the contestants. Once I was old enough, I would go to cheer camps held for little girls. I looked forward to this so much! Putting myself in that kind of environment was my favorite thing to do back then. My first year, I made to Varsity squad along with 2 other sophomores. Since I was one of the few who had been on that team, I really learned what hard work is. I had to learn the ropes of how Skyline Cheer was run and I had to prove myself to the rest of the team. I could compare myself to a sponge- soaking up all of the information and skills that I could in such a short period of time. If I had not prepared my whole life before I had tried out, I would not have been as successful as I was. I especially learned hard work this particular year.
