On the 26th of March 1827 and the age of 56, Ludwig Van Beethoven died. You can consider him to be one of the best composers of all time, you can say that his music was and is the best, you can say that his music repels you. Whatever you say, his name will always be written down in history and we will remember him. When most people talk about Beethoven, they talk about his music, how fantastic they are and mostly his later life. But most people believe that he was born on December 16, 1770 in Bonn, Germany. Beethoven’s family, the first Ludwig van Beethoven, you could call him Ludwig senior, the future composer’s grandfather, had established himself as the most senior, thus the most respected musician in Bonn. He left his home town Mechelen, Belgium at the age of twenty-one and came to Bonn. At the age of forty-nine, he was appointed Kapellmeister, a name that he worked so hard for. This puts him in charge of music at court, like in the chapel, concert hall, theatre, anywhere that plays music basically. This lucrative job earned him a substantial salary and enormous prestige, as well as this, he also ran a wholesale wine business. Ludwig the elder’s wife, Maria Josepha Poll, had to move out of the family because she became an alcoholic, it is known that she was still out of the family until her death in 1775.
