In society there are outsider and insiders, one is favored by the view of others but the other is looked down upon, the other is seen as “different” and most commonly in a negative aspect. The truth is that both the outsider and insider can experience being one another, a person simply isn’t born as an outsider or outcast, the outcast is simply in an environment that they aren’t used to, meanwhile the insider is used to their current environment. The lack of meaning and belonging in an environment is what leads to the feeling of being an outcast. Every individual person can be viewed as being odd by a person who is the opposite of them. Someone who doesn’t fit into the traditional culture and society of that foreign place is viewed as being different. Every summer break my family and I visit Mexico to see our family that lives there. Even though I have friends there and know how to speak Spanish fluently I feel like an outcast there, and even though I understand the culture and traditions there I stick out like a sore thumb. It could be my accent, or the way or dress, but in the town the only people who fit in are my parents. There is a reason why someone would believe that not everyone has experienced being an outsider, and this is only because there are people who don’t consider themselves to be “odd” or “outcasts”, but in the eyes of the other they are different, and this is due to the variance in humanity. Therefore, no matter how hard you try to be normal, or how hard you try to fit in, you’ll always be considered to be different from at least one other person out there. In Conclusion, every person has experienced being an outsider and if not, they’ve been considered to be an outsider by others.
