The common image that accompanies ‘family’ is two parents-married- and a smattering of children-usually two or three- and perhaps a dog and a cat. They most likely attend or host a barbeque every other weekend, detachedly engaged in their suburban life. Average though this image is among the American imagination, it is actually an outlier when considered in the fabric of United States familial diversity. The above method named as FANI enables the participant to structure his or her own discourse allowing connections to be formed between one idea and
Chapter Two: Before I Was, There Were Family is a very large part of my life. As I asked questions for this chapter, I learned quite a lot of information that I had never heard of before. There are so many people in my family that have impacted me and I barely know things about them. Both of my parents are adopted and I 've always known this. I know nothing about my blood related family and that 's okay because I couldn 't ask for a better one.
