Have you ever had a goal, a dream that you know it’s almost impossible to accomplish? Well in Bend It Like Beckham by Gurinder Chadha, Jess had a goal that she knew was close to impossible to achieve. With all the obstacles in the way, and one being her mother she knew it was going to be a tough fight since her mother had other plans besides her dreams of becoming a professional soccer player.
Jess was capable of many things but she had to chose from the two things that was most important to her. Her dreams or her parents wishes. Her parents finds out that she snuck off to Germany and forbids her to play soccer. Ever since then she 's just been kicking things around and her sisters wedding is approaching she had another opportunity. Someone from the United States are going to be watching the game and giving away a school scholarship to 2 people on the team, but Jess wasn 't allowed to play soccer especially since it was on the same day a Pinky’s wedding. Once again it was up to her to chose what was more important. Family or soccer? She ended up going to the wedding, but she seemed really sad and her friend Tony was going to sneak her off to play soccer, but this time she had her dad 's approval since there was so many people no one would notice, and he saw how Jess was really good at soccer before it wasn’t a big deal
This movie it showed that Jess took a bold move by disobeying her parents and followed her dreams instead by sneaking off to play soccer, going to Germany for the finals, and missing bits of her sister 's wedding for soccer.
