Benjamin Franklin not only was a beloved founding father of America, he was also a brilliant scientist, inventor, mathematician, linguist, politician and author. Some of Franklin’s friends were among some of the most famous men in American history. Some specific examples of Franklin’s friends are: Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Along with his friends and countrymen, Franklin made changes to the world as he knew it. Franklin invented objects in order to help the people around him, but also to improve particular parts of life. A few of these inventions include: the lighting rod, the bifocals, and (one not many people know about) swim flippers. The changes Benjamin Franklin made still have an effect on our everyday life.

Although it is written in letter form, the autobiography is still counted as a book because of its clear description of Franklin’s life from childhood to adulthood. Franklin tells of his escapades as a lad, and of his accomplishments as a grownup. Franklin uses the stories of his life to show how he became the man he was. Franklins Autobiography is considered to be one of his greatest works, even greater than most of his experiments.
