Benjamin Franklin is one of the most iconic figures in the history of the United States and even the world. His works and discoveries played a significant role in the evolution of modern technology. In his autobiography, he provides many reasons why he decided to write down his success and life story in general. Benjamin was a religious man and anyone reading his autobiography would attest to that. For example, he said in his book that "I speak of thanking God, I desire with all Humility to acknowledge, that I owe the mentioned Happiness of my past Life to his kind Providence, which led me to the Means I used & gave them Success” (Franklin 3). Franklin well defined order as to “let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time”. If a man desires to flourish in this world, he must cultivate order. Even though the laws of physics inform us that the cosmos and everything in it has a custom of bending towards chaos and disorganization, a man is still required to try to achieve order. A man must battle against these natural laws and the trail of least resistance. Yet captivating on complex organization systems will merely cause more disproportion in your life. Instead, make slight variations by correcting each slip into disorganization the moment it happens (McKay 1). I am mentioning what these virtues mean and along with that showing how hard they are to follow. Even some someone like Benjamin had a hard time following these virtues. He even “found the third virtue, order, difficult to obtain but also felt that his efforts made him a better person” (Ellis 1). That is what these virtues do to the person following them. To further help us understand what it is, Benjamin defined it as to “rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dullness, weakness, or the injury of your own or another’s peace or reputation”. Chastity is a word that can cause teenagers to blush and grown men to cringe. A word that summons up thoughts of medieval belts, “true love waits” pledge cards, and ranting preachers. Numerous believe the perception of chastity has no place in a modern, enlightened society. Certainly that could be put up to debate, in many ways the virtue of chastity is the most difficult to write and talk about. Contrasting to the other virtues, it is hard to define chastity separately from its association to religious philosophies. Yet, while the accurate definition of chastity will differ from man to man, there exist characteristics of this virtue that all men, regardless of belief system, should aspire to. In today’s sexualized society, encouraging chastity is seen as narrow-minded and old fashioned. In the eyes of countless, supporting chastity on a men’s site will be perceived as nearly contradictory. Isn’t masculinity all about the indentations on your bedpost of the women you have conquered? We propose that manly sexuality should not be about the amount of women a man beds; rather, it should be about concentrating one’s sexuality in
