Beowulf is an epic poem that tells the story of a warrior named Beowulf who battles a monster named Grendel, Grendel's mother, and a dragon. The poem is set in Denmark and Sweden, and it is written in Old English. The story is known for its portrayal of Beowulf as a hero who embodies the values of the Anglo-Saxon culture in which the poem was written, such as bravery, loyalty, and honor. The tale of Beowulf is considered one of the greatest works of Old English literature.
Grendel
Grendel is a monster that appears in the epic poem Beowulf. Grendel is described as a terrifying creature that lives in a lair in the marshes and attacks the mead hall of the Danish king Hrothgar at night, killing and eating the king's warriors. Grendel is eventually defeated by the warrior Beowulf, who tears off Grendel's arm and leaves him to die in his lair. Grendel's mother later seeks revenge on Beowulf for killing her son and attacks the mead hall, but she is also defeated by Beowulf. The story of Grendel and his battles with Beowulf is one of the most famous episodes in the poem.
