It was the battle against the sea people. They were blue-green and scaly with webbed fingers and gleaming eyes. The men in the sea wanted the Geats’ gold. They wanted to steal all that the Geats had. It started with the sinking of one of the Geats’ ships. The village of the sea people rained with the dead bodies of men and their stolen treasures. Beowulf would not stand for this, it was the first disturbance in his five years of being king. He prepared for battle, but this one was different. His mail-shirt would weigh him down, his sword would not swing against the resistance of water. The only way to beat the sea people would be to trick them out of the water. Beowulf had a ship made, of the strongest wood known to men, with sharp splinters and metal edges lining the bottom. He sailed it into the ocean, waiting for the attack. It was not soon before the blurs of the sea people circled his boat. Beowulf had nowhere to go or hide, and the only thing separating him from the evil of the sea people was his boat.
