The poets within Beowulf sing about tales of heroes and their heroic deeds. The sing about these deeds, even if some of them have failed. They sing their songs to King Hrothgar, his subjects, Beowulf, and his men. The poets sang to share these stories, back then stories were always passed down orally through

Beowulf is the main character in the epic poem Beowulf, He is a strong warrior who fought battles for the king of the city Hrothgar. Beowulf is the strongest and bravest warriors to ever live under Hrothgar. There are three major battles that occurred in the epic poem, Beowulf against Grendel, Beowulf against Grendel’s mother and the final battle was Beowulf against the dragon. So just in seeing who fought in the battles shows how many differences and similarities they posses as a whole. As the poem continues, Beowulf’s character changes greatly.
Beowulf went through so much to prove he was worthy enough to protect their kingdom and defeat Grendel. The story Beowulf was a great story to read and a great movie to watch; however, the battles were very eye catching and had a lot of extravagant and heroic doings of Beowulf. The first scenario that I’m going to discuss in the movie and story of Beowulf is The Battle with Grendel. In the movie Grendel attacked Beowulf in the Heriot while everyone was dancing and singing.
Beowulf is an epic hero because of his strength. His strength isn’t the same as an ordinary man, “He twisted in pain and the bleeding sinews deep in his shoulder snapped muscle and on split and broke” (lines 337-340). No ordinary man would be
In the great epic, Beowulf, an unknown poet describes Beowulf as an invincible hero with the amazing strength stronger than any human ever, but does having the traits of an incredible warrior, make him a great king? A great king is loyal, generous, reliable and should be able to realize what he needs to do to make sure his people are safe. Beowulf is brave, strong, and extremely confident in his combat abilities, but Beowulf does not think about the possible effects of his actions. Beowulf cares about his fame, fortune, and legacy, but he often makes rushed decisions that risk his life and could potentially leave his people powerless and unprotected. During Beowulf’s transformation from thane to king, he has always had more of a warrior’s mindset,
We start off in a land ‘far far way’ to this young hero who’s name is Beowulf now we follow him to one of his battles. Beowulf might have his down falls but come on the guy is insane when he go in to battles. We will skip to the most epic battle Beowulf has ever face and his opponent was Grendel. Now Grendel wasn’t the most nicest monster I say that because he would come up out of his cave and came up and ate everything human in the meat hall.
In the epic Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf is depicted as a heroic figure who fights monsters and defends the weak. During its time, Beowulf would be considered a great hero, however in today 's standards Beowulf would only be considered a great warrior. That’s because a hero should value the lives of the people and not seek to be rewarded. Instead, Beowulf committed heroic acts for his own selfish reasons and never shows to values the lives of the people. From fighting Grendel to slaying the dragon, Beowulf only fought because he value the fame and fortune that comes along with those accomplishments.
Beowulf’s two sides of his characterization alters when he is told in the great tale of Grendel. Beowulf is told, in the original epic Beowulf, of his many feats and power amongst the land’s, especially the Geats. In Grendel, he still is a power figure but resembles a monster and to some, an actual monster. Beowulf chooses to take on the beast he heard about and to try to rid him of the lands. His mindset is to just kill and destroy the beast that he is put at task to vanquish.
In the epic poem of Beowulf, people with the Christian or Pagan belief may have acquired their individual view of fate. Meanwhile, Beowulf seemed to have his own concept of fate. Throughout the poem, Beowulf's duty is to protect his people. Beowulf proves that his journey to take on countless creatures is driven by fate. Fate is a controversial idea within the Anglo-Saxon society.
Beowulf was invincible in his strength. He battles terrifying monster and risks his life. He showcases his heroic stoicism through his super-human physical strength. Grendel was a horrendous monster that was the incarnation of maleficence. Beowulf’s men had tried to use their weapons to fight, but Grendel “ blunted every mortal man 's blade” (Line 485).
Christopher Reeves once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Although Beowulf was human, he was not an ordinary individual, hero, or king, for he was a man who displayed superhuman qualities in his efforts to protect the Danish and Geatish people. Beowulf, who was established Geatish warrior that spent his life in battle, showed these extraordinary characteristics that made him an epic hero, one who possesses superhuman, almost god-like qualities. Being constantly on a quest, risking his life for glory and the greater good of society, and being superiorly intelligent, courageous and strong are the three most important reasons why Beowulf deserves such a notable
