Representative Luis Gutiérrez was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. In his freshman year of high school his parents decided to move back to their home town, San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Reluctantly, he followed his parents to Puerto Rico where he learned to speak Spanish. After moving back to Chicago, he found a passion in advocating for undocumented immigrants who are struggling to make ends meet due to their status.

Many people seem to think that Bernie Sanders won’t be able to make America great again; however, he has been in public office for more than 30 years. In the story “The Know-it-all Generation” the author sets the scene in the first person and gives a personal account to prove an underlying issue that the generation may be facing. The generation consists of individuals that ultimately go off into the world with a sense of entitlement, false hope, and a pompous attitude due to constant specious comments made by those around. Dear Mr. Peabody, I would like to inform you today about some common myths about immigration that just need to be squashed. The first myth that needs to be set straight is the myth that undocumented immigrants don’t pay taxes Undocumented immigrants are already U.S. taxpayers. Collectively undocumented immigrants have paid an estimate of $10.6 billion to state and local taxes as of 2010 according to the Institution on Taxation and Economic Policy. state governments cited IRS figures showing that 50% to 75% of the about 11 million unauthorized U.S. immigrants file and pay income taxes each year. Another myth created in our society is that illegal immigrants drain or abuse the system.
Undocumented immigrants live with fear of deportation every day of their lives. Those with control of state institutions who do not consider undocumented immigrants as worthy American residents in our society, take advantage of their power by instilling fear of deportation. The restrictive federal and state laws towards migration in the U.S. has become a way to keep undocumented immigrants and their families living in the shadows. Arrocha (2013) claims that the paradox of the U.S. migration seems be that our free democratic republicanism is viewed as the land of freedom, equality, and justice. Yet, these undocumented immigrants aren’t treated equally or given the freedom to live in our society without intimidation.
Immigration in the past few decades have grown within the world as many are fleeing their own countries for others, by both legal and illegal means. However, with such a large influx of immigrants, this has put a notable strain on the receiving countries. Thus raising the question of what can be done and what to do with those who have illegally entered the country. In the United States the issue of illegal immigration and immigrants has progressively worsened, splitting the citizen’s opinion between either allowing them to stay or deporting every illegal within the country. On November 20, 2014 President Obama gave a speech to answer such questions with his immigration reform.
Immigration has always been a major part of American history. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people travel to the United States in search of a better life. Of the 1.49 million immigrants who traveled to the United States in 2016, 150,400 immigrants were from Mexico. There have also been many people from Mexico who have immigrated illegally to America, with 5.6 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. in 2015 and 2016. The large scale of immigration, both legal and illegal, has brought up issues such as national security and the U.S. economy.

Healthcare is something everyone needs and should be able to get, but right now that is not happening. In America there are millions of people who don’t have healthcare insurance. This is because some can’t afford the insurance plan. There are also millions more who have health insurance, but can’t afford using it. This means that they are paying for an insurance plan, but the deductibles are so high they can’t afford to go to the doctor.
