Can the pursuit of a higher degree change your life? If you answered no then maybe you would benefit from reading Andrew Braaksma article “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line.” When this article was produced Braaksma used his work to win a contest named Back to School, while he was a junior at the University of Michigan. The movie Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott could be the biggest disaster of a film on ancient Rome. This film’s only positive trait was how Ridley Scoot and the writers showed an accurate view of how the people and violence were at that time which was the 2nd century AD. Even with this positive trait, the movie historical is a disaster due to the massive amount of historical inaccuracies that are littered throughout the movie. The historical inaccuracies included gladiatorial, military, and political inaccuracies.

As a writer at Gladiators Monthly, I am examining the historical accuracy of the movie Gladiator. There are aspects of Gladiator that do and do not hold true to the historical accuracy of the Romans under Commodus. This essay will show how the depiction of Commodus has both accurate and inaccurate qualities, while the portrayal of the Roman crowd determining the fate of the gladiators is quite accurate. In reality, Commodus did not kill his father, Marcus Aurelius, nor did he reign for such a short period of time.
In the modern day, entertainment plays a large role in our daily lives. From phones, to movie theaters, to reading, we as humans demand to be entertained. Although the amount of entertainment available to the general public has increased dramatically in the last 100 years, entertainment has been a necessary part of society for the past few millennia. I feel like as a result of his stoic philosophy teaching that his thoughts live on even in today era. Let me elaborate with the slave accusations.

In this paper, I will examine the role of spectacles in the Roman culture, where the theme of violence and death will be featured. Predominantly, spectacles were used for entertainment reasons, to punish miscreants, serving as an example to the citizens, promoting interaction between the people of Rome and the rulers, and providing food for the ancient society.
