When he finds that he is going to be hunted his natural instinct is to run and panic, but then he stops to look around and get a grip on the task at hand. Then at a critical moment when Zaroff finds him in a tree, Rainsford panics again because he realizes Zaroff is on his trail and is toying with him. Once again, he gains control of his emotions and formulates a plan.
In “What We Are to Advertisers” and “Men’s Men and Women’s Women” both Twitchell and Craig reveal how advertisers utilize stereotypes to manipulate and persuade consumers into purchasing their products. Companies label their audience and advertise to them accordingly. Using reliable sources such as Stanford Research Institute, companies are able to use the data to their advantage to help market their products to a specific demographic. Craig and Twitchell give examples of this ploy in action by revealing how companies use “positioning” to advertise the same product to two demographics to earn more profit. Craig delves more into the advertisers ' plan by exposing the science behind commercials.

In general, people tend to shy away from teaching children about difficult times in history such as the Middle Passage, the Trail of Tears, and the Holocaust. This is understandable since they are children and tend to have other interests like playing games with their friends. What if one could combine education of these difficult topics with the allure of a kid friendly game? Brenda Romero did just that. In her Ted Talk, “Gaming for Understanding,” Romero mentions that she has been making all sorts of games since she was fifteen.

Within this critical literature review, the article which will be under analysis is “low- income families and coping through brands: Inclusion or stigma?” which was written by Kathy Hamilton in 2012. The article concentrates on the coping strategies used by single parents and low-income families to avoid stigmatisation and threats upon their social identities. Therefore, to avoid stigmatisation these low-income families may take part in conspicuous consumption where families may spend a lot of money on luxury goods to make themselves look better, which can give them a sense of economic power and acceptance within society. However, due to the rise of ‘chav’ culture surrounding single mothers, it can be much harder to move away from stigmatisation,

The majority of modern society’s advertising conveys an oppressive message to American women. In advertisement campaigns, women are typically only considered and marketed as beautiful if they fit a very specific mold that society has created. Women who don’t fit this mold of being feminine, thin, and pretty are shamed and encouraged to change. However, it isn’t just the “ugly” women who are shamed in the media. There is a consistent message that runs throughout advertisements that suggests that women are lesser than men, and that they exist solely for the benefit of men.
The movie chosen is Gerald’s Game, this film is perfect because of the role psychology has in Jess’ life from the beginning. In the opening scene Jess is seen packing a suitcase with clothes, this is because she will soon be leaving on a trip with Gerald to a secluded lake house where they hope to revitalize their love life . Skipping to the scene when they are in the car we see Gerald try to place his hand on Jess’ lap and she flinches. This is a foreshadow of what we later learn about her past. This scene is also the first scene in which psychology is shown in the form of PTSD.
