The Pillar Edicts, Bhagavad-Gita, the Sermon on the Mount, and the Qur’an had many similar concepts, but some were taken in completely different way. As Yehuda Berg stated, “I do believe that the original sources of all religions should be taught, because with that we will find our similarities, not just our differences” (Religions Quotes). Each religions taught their followers in different ways. Such as Hindu had pillars scattered across Europe with rules craved into them. With Hinduism the “Pillar Edicts” are the seven “concepts of duty” that kept one in good standing (219). Also the epic poem, Bhagavad-Gita, was written to explain how. In this epic Arjuna does not believe that fighting was the answer. Krishna told him that fighting for your people is the right way to get salvation. He wanted his followers to be part of the world and not away from it. He also stated that killing them would be okay because everyone received reincarnation. In the Sermon on the Mount revealed that Jesus was a “teacher of moral actions” (245). His teachings were mostly concerned with “how human beings should treat one another” (245). In Christianity to receive salvation one must treat their neighbor like they would like to be treated. With Islam the Qur’an stated that alms deeds and to honor God with give one salvation. Many of the same stories are taught in different religions such as Noah and the Ark that was told in many religions. Teachings, also known as stories, were the best and easiest way to show people how to obey and do well in their lives. Jesus taught with many stories that now make up the New Testament, which related to his followers. He used twenty teachings that showed how to obey the Lord in the material world. The Qur’an used the story of Noah and the Ark. This showed his followers how no one would believe Noah, but he never did anything different than obeying. The Bhagavad-Gita demonstrated how Arjuna questioned Krishna and how Krishna answered him. Hindu, Christianity, and Islam all used teachings that showed how to obey, but each teaching was different. Correct behavior was almost completely different in each religion, but a few that popped up in all of them. Christianity taught to be away from the material world and show its people that there was something bigger. Hindu taught to be part of the world. Islam taught to treat and take care of the world’s people. In the Islam teaching the people that had evil inside them repented and stated that if they sinned again then they were evil.
