“BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING” a phrase coined by George Orwell in his irrational view of how in 1984 the world would look. Maybe his thoughts weren’t so irrational though, maybe Orwell was predicting exactly what would happen to us. We now are facing our own 1984, where language is becoming simpler and simpler and Big Brother is now actually watching our every move. Even simply walking through the hallways can be considered suspect activity and can get you questioned, so at this point what is stopping us from becoming just like the Party members. Now we can be monitored through almost anything we do. Cameras are everywhere, there is absolutely no way to avoid them, even in our homes were are being watched by cameras. Identically, both societies deal with doubt for lack of better word in those around them, family or not. The people around us are sometimes the most damaging to us, they can be our downfall or they can lift us up. But as seen in Orwell’s, 1984, everyone is an enemy, even their own children. Likewise with us, we don’t trust anyone because everyone talks about one another and sometimes what people can say can get you in trouble. It’s very simply for people in the real world and in this fictional world to hear what is being said about you, so it’s easy for someone who is a higher up to catch you in the act of doing something you aren’t supposed to do. Of course, you can imagine that this make people very untrustworthy of one another, pulling us further and further a part to a point where it’s more comfortable for people to want to be alone rather than around
