This was my second time reading George Orwell’s 1984. After rereading this novel, the theme of “big brother is watching you”, is prevalent in today’s society. Not to such an extreme degree as seen in the novel, but our government does have the ability to monitor many aspects of our lives. The NSA can listen to phone calls and monitor internet activity, all from a building hundreds or thousands of miles away. In order for the NSA to do this, certain guidelines have to followed. Warrants or probable cause is needed when tapping someone’s phone or internet activity. However, the fact that the general population know that these taps take place, is enough to cause a certain level of discomfort. If the NSA or other agencies of our government were
