Bill and Melinda Gates are two philanthropists working in charity. Before getting involved in charity, Bill Gates was one of the founders of Microsoft and Melinda Gates worked at Microsoft. They were taught to be charitable through the way they were raised. They made charities such as the Gates Library Foundation Launch and the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, but their most notable charity is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is a charity foundation that was founded by Bill and Melinda Gates in the year of 2000 (Gatesnotes). Even though the foundation usually focuses on issues on a global standpoint, the foundation has worked in the United States. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has three U.S. programs. The first program is the K-12 Program. It addresses the education problem that is a very relevant issue in the United States. The foundation partners with other organizations, individuals, and networks along with listening to experts in the education industry to ensure that they are addressing the issue properly for working to provide a better education to all students across the U.S. The second U.S (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). The second program they have in the foundation is the Postsecondary Program. This program is like the K-12 Program but it focuses on college education and works to help improve the student’s success by working with colleges and universities to help figure out what is the best solution to help with the student’s path to success. The third U.S. program is the Washington State Program. This program helping with poverty for the people in Washington State (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). The program was funded with more than one billion dollars to help provide a quality education, as well as addressing the homelessness that is a problem in Washington State (Bill and Melinda Gates
