As a teenager in this society I sees the hurt and drama that goes on every day in this world. There is a lot of tension between Blacks and Whites as we know of today. Before, in the olden days, blacks had less rights than whites, yes, but they were still devoted to their culture and traditions. Today, people are stereotyped to African Americans. Bill Cosby, a comedian, writer and producer argues how African Americans today are not how they were when he was a little kid. His purpose is to show examples of African American kids not growing up the wrong way. He stresses how the language has changed, how more police reports have been filed, in the manner where he intends to wake up the parents of these kids to let them know the care for their children …show more content…

He is a famous comedian, writer and producer which people all over the world know. Cosby pinpoints his argument to African American parents. He grabs the parents attention by creating a scenario. He says, Where were you when he was two? Where were you when he was twelve? Where were you when he was eighteen, and how come you don’t know he had a pistol? And where is his father, and why don’t you know where he is? And as soon as you have it, you forget to parent.” (Cosby) Some inferences taken from that quote are, he presents a fact but then quickly implies his own opinion behind it. Throughout his whole paper, he shows repetition of this. In fact, another time he did the same thing. For example, he blurts out random facts or opinions when he says, “Ladies and gentlemen, listen to these people. They are showing you what’s wrong. People putting their clothes on backwards. Isn’t that a sign of something going on wrong? Are you not paying attention?” (Cosby) he totally just implies his own feelings and is saying anything to convince the people to take his side in this argument. He professes his argument, but then quickly hides his proof because he covers it up with an opinion to attack the audiences emotions. Media is not hard to incorporate in Cosby’s case. Before he wrote this speech he already had the attention of many people due to being famous. His credibility has been already so high and trustable. Ethos provides him with the ability to express his feelings without being afraid. He has confidence in his
