Biomechanics In Golf Essay

760 Words4 Pages

The role of biomechanics plays in assisting a person to improve their technique in sport, specifically Golf. Biomechanics specifically particularly assists athletes to significantly improve their performance. Principles are applied to the action that is trying attempting to be improved. Ways in which you can take advantage of techniques or technology to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the motion is examined. This type of biomechanics in often referred to as kinetics as opposed to kinematics, which refers to describing motion. Biomechanics within golf applies mechanical techniques to the structure and function to help with the improvement of techniques and performance.

The biomechanical principle I have chosen to focus on is weight transfer. Weight transfer plays a crucial role within Golf. It influences the swing arc, swing plane, angle of release, club face position of impact, width of your feet and center of gravity. …show more content…

In golf, the swing path varies depending on the location you hit the ball. It should trace out a U to hit the ball correctly as shown in the figure.

The swing plane includes; rotational movement of the golf club around the body which gives the swing depth, elevation is done by bending your right elbow creating the height and vertical movement and flexion follows on from elevation which gives height needed for the completion of the backswing.

The position of the club face is one of the most important aspects of achieving impact in your golf swing. In order to achieve this, the club face should present as square shape as it provides force and length to your swing.

The center of gravity is the point in an object where gravity appears to act (Khan Academy, 2017). It is placed directly between the base of support which enables balance and
