Biomes: Similarities Between The Ocean And The Rainforest

The ocean and the rain forest are very similar biomes but are also extremely different. These two biomes consist of different climates and very different animal species. The animals living in these biomes adapt differently so they can survive the climates and extreme temperatures. The climates for each biome are exceedingly different. The ocean consists of water while the rainforest is mostly trees and plants. This is just some of the many interesting facts about these biomes. The rain forest is a biome with very warm weather and an extremely wet climate. It is also one of the oldest biomes on Earth. The average rainfall of the rainforest is 80-200 inches per year (Baldwin, pg. 5). The temperature of the rainforest is on average 77 degrees fahrenheit (25 degrees celsius) and the average humidity is between 77 and 88% (Michael G., par. 2). Most of our resources that we use come from the rain forest. More important things that we use are medicines. Most of the medicines that we use today come from rainforest plants(Baldwin, pg. 6) The rainforest has many things that are different from the rainforest but they do have many things in common.

For instance, they both have very wet climates where the animals and plants around them have to adapt to the water. Both of these environments have outrageous temperatures that make it such a dangerous place to sometimes visit. All of the plants and animals have to adapt to its surroundings. Any animal living in these two biomes have to adapt to the little or no sunlight that it gets. In the rainforest, animals and plants that live on the ground do not get very much sunlight because of the trees up above. Same with the ocean, sea animals have adapted to use no sunlight because the sunlight cannot reach through the water far enough for the animals to reach it.
