Bioshock Rapture Analysis

The novel serves as a prequel to the popularly acclaimed video game series Bioshock. Before going into detail about the novel, a brief summary of the series is necessary. Bioshock takes place in an underwater utopian city named Rapture. Rapture runs on a strict capitalist society and was forged by the personal dreams of the cities creator, Andrew Ryan which sole reason was to escape the political, social and religious anxieties of a world that recently finished the second world war. Rapture is a place where man can be all he can be. Since it has no restrictions scientific advancements have skyrocketed revealing new ways to improve the human persona. By the use of plasmids, one can easily modify their genes, change race, gender, and even to have control of fire, lightning, ice from your hands as well as, teleportation, speed, telekinesis, etc. All with a household purpose and/or convenience.
However due to this advancement, it 's what eventually led the city to it 's downfall. Since it these plasmids are produced by Adam, and in order to use the plasmids it requires Eve, as a sort of ammunition for a gun. The novel starts with Andrew Ryan looking displeased about the photos of the aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and from that point on he knew this world wasn 't good enough for what he has in store. He later on meets a freelancing plumber by the name of Bill McDonagh whom is very pleased with not taking advantage of his wealth when asking how much he needs for the job he did fixing the toilet. Ryan gains the utmost respect of Bill and tells him of the plans he has in store and wants Bill to be the main constructor of the city.
