Ted Cruz, a republican, was born in Canada to an American mother who was born in the state of Delaware. Many legal experts say Cruz meets the qualifications because he was born to an American mother. Cruz states that the constitution makes it “clear and straightforward,” about any child born to a U.S citizen is a natural-born citizen. Cruz also says that his interpretation of a “natural-born citizen” is anyone who is a U.S citizen at birth, and doesn’t necessarily have to be born in the country.

According to ArticleⅡ, SectionⅠ, Clause Ⅴ, of the Constitution, a person must be a natural-born citizen to be eligible become president. However, many people from other countries have had the qualities and experience necessary to become president, yet they have been hindered from doing so by this foolish provision. Clearly, this is not right. I believe you do not need to be born on US soil, to become president for the following reasons: (1) many people misconceive the meaning of the word natural-born citizen,(2) many people from foreign countries have helped America in many ways,(3) most other countries do not have similar qualifications Firstly, many people misconceive the meaning of the word, natural-born citizen. According to an article by the Harvard Law Review, the word natural-born citizen actually means that a natural-born citizen is someone who has been given birth to by a parent who is a citizen of the United States regardless of where he or she is born, without going through the naturalization process.
When I was in third grade, I was diagnosed with a medical condition that required me to go to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh multiple times per month. It was boring, annoying, and sometimes painful. I never enjoyed going and that didn’t change as I got older. But when I just started going, I was very sick. Between the one hundred two-degree fever I had and the amount of blood they had to take out of me for tests, I felt miserable.
It is time to allow the hundreds and thousandths of young immigrants to become productive members of society. Many of whom who were brought to the United states by their parents in search of a better life and have no fault of their own. To make matters worse the recent decision announced by the department of homeland security to rescind the deferred action for child hood arrivals program most commonly known as (DACA). The Deferred Action for Childhood arrivals was an immigration policy that allowed undocumented minors who entered and lived in the country unlawfully to apply for, two year work permits and granted them deferred action from being deported to their home countries. The population is growing fast and massive immigration is to blame. Not only is this a problem, but the economy of the United States is hurting too. Many people become unemployed and others are hit hard by paying high tax. The environment is also being harmed, due to the overpopulation factor. Immigration can become a serious problem without stricter laws.
I found this book to be interesting and informative as the authors maintain in the introduction that education and knowledge truly empower children for it provides them with the opportunities that are needed for themselves and their families. They further mention that education provides a gateway for children to break through the societal norms of oppression, especially in the developing countries. There are a few chapters in this book, I believe, could help to get some more information and sources of how children should receive education and what prevents them from achieving their schooling goal. For example, chapter three, “Recognizing children as citizens,” discovers the recognition of children as citizens with rights as those who are not

A vast idea that shadows the United States of America is the American dream. It is an idea which has been branded on the U.S. since it became independent. From having a huge amount of people immigrate to its borders for a better life. The dream is one of first things that come to mind when thinking of the United States of America. The American dream can come in different shapes or sizes depending on the person who conquers it.
This quote from the article stood out to me the most, especially the last sentence. I think Ms. Chavez made a good point when she included that it would change what it meant to be an American by denying citizenship to immigrants born here. Considering the fact that the Europeans who settled here long ago would be considered “aliens” to the Native Americans that were here first. The Europeans decided it was okay to encroach on the land; so what makes it any different if other people do it today? I feel like if parents go through all the trouble to get to the United States to live a better life and happen to bring a child into the world with them, on American ground, then their child should be considered a citizen.
Many Americans have mixed views about citizenship for these people. Illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship based on how the person is doing. If they are causing trouble they don't need to be here. If they are working trying to get a check to provide for their family then why not keep them here. It could also help decrease the amount of debt America is in because of the increased tax returns.
Sociology 462: First Response Paper “The Making of Familial Citizenship” by Sirman vs. “The Sexual Citizen” by Weeks In “The making of the familial citizen” and “The Sexual Citizen”, Sirman and Weeks (respectively) discuss what it means to be a citizen through specific lenses. The arguments presented in each of these articles as they search to define citizen can be summarized by three different categories: transformations in the public and private spheres; the transition from traditional values to love relationships; and the formation of identity. Through comparing each article’s approach, we find commonalities in the modern search for citizenship and in the discussion on nationalism’s relation to sexuality and gender.
Second class citizenship should be allowed in the United States. One piece of evidence that point to this, is that immigrants come to look for a job and second-class citizenship provides them with it. A job that includes money to make a living. Although second-class citizenship does not allow the illegal immigrant the right to vote, they still have the right to receive the pay of a citizen. Research has shown that most undocumented people coming to the United States is because they come to look for jobs.
