The black-figure pot that is being critiqued is Red-figure lekythos by the Phiale Painter in around 450-425 BC. The medium used in this art is clay and this was made during the classical time period in Ancient Greece. The art is about h425 mm and it is currently in the Museum of Cycladic Art.
In this art piece, the most important subject matter is the person. The person that is present in this art piece is Prince of Troy whom is portrayed bearded and sitting on a rocky outcrop and holding a stick. He is wearing nothing on top and a robe at the bottom. He is not wearing any shoes. He also has dark colored hair. He in the most important subject matter in this because he is the center and is portrayed largely. In this art piece, the most important elements of art are color, value, and emphasis. There are orange and black colors on this art. There are light and dark values that represent different things. The oranges show the people and the black is the background. Space is also present and the black would be the negative space and the orange would be the positive space. Emphasis is also important because the artist emphasized the person being portrayed by making him large and in the center.
