In 1954 the supreme court outlawed segregation where African-Americans were separate from Whites,but were still considered “equal” every race had its own little bubble they could never cross or they would be punished. Whites were the superior race and were seen as more important than Blacks. In 1964 the segregation law ended. Today in America in a ways segregation still exist there are schools that mostly white, there is still racist people in the world. America still cares more about how they look and being ‘’Great “ even if the process as President Donald Trump says of “Making America Great Again” negatively impacts certain races.
Every country on this beautiful sphere that we call earth has its own view on society. All countries around the world views America as being the land of the free and the land of being able to express yourself, but their just looking through a microscope .Whether those countries know it or not America has flaws. One of Americans biggest flaw is racial discrimination against people of color. When Jim Crow laws were introduced in the 1890’s it had a lasting effect on people of color socially, mentally, and their opportunities.
Black lives have been taken away from officers for nearly 2 decades the reason why is still unknown. The” movement” is a great way to raise awareness to what the media is blind to admit that police brutality, cruelty and unjustified killings. Black lives matter also raises bails for wrongfully convicted black people. The fact that the media is just know realizing is just absurd. Police have killed 780 people in the year of 2016 alone.
Racial segregation may no longer be legally enforced, but it still exists in many parts of the country, particularly in housing and education. Economic oppression and discrimination continue to be serious issues, with black Americans still experiencing higher rates of poverty and lower wages than their white counterparts. Police brutality and violence against black Americans are still major concerns, and the Black Lives Matter movement has highlighted the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality. Black people are getting killed just because of the pigment of their skin. Whites fear black peoples because they think black people are always angry, or want to rob them, or just too“ghetto”
In America, there is a distinct amount of people from all over the world. Ireland, Britain, France, South America, or as far as Greece, Switzerland, Mexico, or Romania. Even our enemy country’s like Russia, Germany, Japan, and Italy. When growing up in the United States, we as individuals meet other individuals different from culture, skin, and race. Most times, if we have tolerance respect and the idea of equality for other individuals, conversations can get along nicely without any defense.
If you look throughout our American History racism is an incredibly large problem that has stood the test of time. Racism was especially present in the early 1960’s before the civil rights act was passed and black people were treated poorly. In Kathryn Stockett’s The Help black people, especially women are forced to use a different bathroom than white people and raise the babies of their white bosses. Also there are laws,rules, and everyday normalities that segregate black and white people as well as prevent white people such as Skeeter from crossing the “color line”.
As the bus approached the curve, everyone gathered their belongings. As I gathered mine, I saw a large group of African-American males approaching the bus. When other students began departing from the bus, four of them were attacked by the group of boys and one is left on the ground with a concussion and no phone. Looking at each other with bewilderment and fear, everyone was aghast. The group of boys ran away.
Racism is a continuing battle for people of color because they are considered the “inferior” race by many. The reason for this is because America was built on white slave owners. People of color were pretty much always considered the “inferior” race because white people though they were entitled to owning everything, including people. But some don’t see people as being inferior because of their race. Some don’t “see” race at all; to them, they are just people.
There have been hundreds of cases of people discriminating against others because of the color of their skin or their religion. Thomas Paine said that America is made up of people from different nations with different modes of worship, yet they were all united. Things have changed for the worst, and because of it, innocent people are getting hurt. For example, unfortunately, there have been many cases of African American men getting shot by racist white police officers. Of course, not every white policeman or policewoman is racist or targeting people of color, but often people overlook the details and start arguments about the little things.
For many years’ society has been a battle of “white vs black. It has been nothing more than whites thinking that they are better than a black or whites ruling the black. Whites today and even back in the days think that just because a person is colored they are less valuable. We treat blacks and even people of color like they are no good, we treat them like slaves. Before independence bobo stated that in her all white school that only black people worked there.
Ignorance is encountered in many forms from inside and outside of black race. I've found that the best way to overcome it is not with indignant outrage, but with careful and sincere redirection. On a basic human level, nobody wants to be told that they are wrong; however, if you are skilled at addressing the thought, rather than the person, you are capable of creating a lasting impression and teaching moment that will last generations. One of my best friends is white (cliché of the decade) and we have a plethora of conversations on race relations. Now, I've found that he's much more sensitive to bouts of racial insensitivity than I am, and he's ALOT more inclined to confront people about it!
Historically, African Americans have faced discrimination in the criminal justice systems. During the early 1800’s, the system has formed laws to discriminate against African Americans. These laws are recognized as the Jim Crow laws. Jim Crow laws were regulations passed after slavery that created different guidelines for African Americans and Caucasians (Constitutional Rights Foundation, 2016) These decrees were purposely put in place to hinder African Americans from interacting with Caucasians.
Black Lives Matter was formed in 2012 in response to Trayvon Martin’s murder. Once George Zimmerman, was acquitted for his crime, black communities came together to actively resist the dehumanization of black males and females. Black Lives Matter is a call to action and a response to the fatal anti-Black racism that saturates our society, and paralyzes growth of the African American success. Black Lives Matter is more than just an organization that tells blacks to support each other and stop black on black crime, or even police brutality. But Black Lives Matter movement is meant to encourage individuals to stand together against inequalities against black people.
Black and White is just a color it 's not who you are. As Michael Jackson one said, “It don’t matter if you’re black or white.” To put it briefly all the judgements, cruelty, or racism just creates more problems that is not needed at the moment or
In the past, they were looked upon as slaves and now they are being killed innocently with no reason. They declare “all men are created equal” in America but what has to be taken in mind is the prejudice that is increasing in our country. If men are created equal then why are African Americans being treated unfairly when it doesn’t matter what the color of our skin is, “God created us the same”. There has been an increasing rate of innocent black men being killed who are being treated unfairly. Many want to change the society and create justice that a movement was created.
