The Black Panthers were originated in California in 1966 during the civil rights movement. The Black Panthers focused on the perspective on police brutality and racism on black people. The Black Panthers was founded by Huey Percy Newton and Bobby Seal, their motive being equality in education, housing, employment, and civil rights. The Black Panther party was one of the first parties to fight for the struggle of ethnic minority and the working class of liberation.
The movement of the Panthers was demanded for desegregation of buses, schools, waiting rooms and lunch counters. Thousands were asked to participate in the demonstrations, sit-ins and freedom rides. Stated in the Black Panther History article, On April 25th, 1967, the first act of the Black Panther goes into play, within a month the party marches on the California state capitol fully armed, in protest of the state's attempt to outlaw carrying loaded weapons in public. This act resulted in the arrest of all 30 armed Panthers. The outbreak in the media of this act initiated minority workers to form Panther groups in other states outside of California. The Black Panthers were well known for taking up guns in defense against police brutality but aside from this they also did things for their community as well. For example, the Black Panthers organized dozens of community programs such as free breakfast for children, health clinics and shoes for children. The Black Panthers were very successful, their size grew of 5,000 full time party workers, across America. At their highest, they sold 250,000 papers every week. The polls showed that the Panthers had 90% support amongst Blacks in the major cities. The head of the FBI described the Black Panthers as “the number one threat to the internal security of the United
