Power is something that everyone seeks to find throughout there life. Everyone wants to feel that they made their mark on this earth the way they wanted to. Being able to discover oneself throughout the world that is filled with negativity and people fighting against your specific purpose is never easy. This is the hardest for black women and their community as a whole. Throughout this book Jill shows us the daily struggles black women face and the things she personally has to deal with daily. Many different battles were presented throughout the book, but the main ones were finding a sense of community, male supremacy, and the ideas presented by Queen Mother Moore. Jill inspires to create a community were black women strive towards a common goal together. However, she sees that women today are disorganized and without an agenda, voice, or organization. She wants to show the rest of the world what strength and power black women are capable of especially as a strong unit. She explains that before black women are able to come together as one that they must learn to respect others. Queen Mother Moore claims that this is the answer to the problems woman face. Throughout the book it gives the option only for men, however this goes against what females should be doing. The discussion is always what will satisfy men and make them happy well women are left to try to make themselves happy in a mans world. This is just a gateway and acceptance for men to do whatever they fell they want to do to please themselves without judgment because they were told it was okay.
