Going Back Over Aleasha Carpena Blessed Be Blessed Be is an often misused term, which is most commonly and incorrectly used as a greeting, to say hello, goodbye and even to wish someone a nice day. However in its true purpose, Blessed Be, is a sacred term, used to grant the blessings of a Deity (often the Goddess) onto a person, with the most well known use that of the ‘Five Fold Kiss’ ritual. The Five Fold Kiss ritual is/was performed within covens, mainly Gardnerian. Gardnerian Wicca, which was named after its founder, British scholar and amature scholar of magic Gerald Gardner, was first made public with the release of his publication ‘Witchcraft Today’ in 1954. This is considered by many to be the first modern Wiccan tradition, from which most other traditions originate. The term ‘Blessed Be’ first made its appearance within Wicca as a part of the Gardnerian Drawing of the Moon ritual which incorporated the Five Fold Kiss. This is also used as a ritual blessing within initiation and dedication ceremonies,and handfastings among others in which a Deity is invoked. This I can use whenever a ritual calls for the invocation of a Deity, entity or God/Goddess, I can use Blessed be at the end of my rituals and magical workings in the hopes of bestowing the blessing of the Deity to the spell or ritual performed or even to the person or focus of the spell was carried for. I personally believe that, although Blessed be is traditionally used in a coven setting, within initiation rites etc,.. That it allows me, even in solitary practice, to ask the Deities for their blessings for my spells which gives me a great comfort in that even without a coven I can still ask the Deities for their
