Reggae music was derived from the religious beliefs of Rastafarianism, which fights against social and political oppression. The most famous reggae artist would probably be Bob Marley who was born in Jamaica and spent his childhood in poverty. During 1700 when the Spanish and English left Europe to explore they set up colonies not only in what is now the United States, but on the island of Jamaica.
