I chose to snuggle up with a good book for my second activity report. The book is called Cry Rape (2006) by Bill Lueders. This book is based on a true story of a woman, named Patty, who was raped in her own home one night and when she finally got help, authorities turned against her. She came home tired one night and just said goodnight to her daughter who was pregnant and then went to bed. She went to sleep and a few hours later she woke up from the sounds and smells of a drunken person in her bed. She was afraid, but decided to obey all of his wishes in order to protect her daughter that was in the other room. Patty was actually blind do to an illness that she developed as she got older. The man seemed to know this and seemed to know about her life. He raped her, robbed her, and cut the phone lines that he found throughout the house before leaving all while Patty was instructed to stay in her closet. …show more content…

She was so worried something had happened to her, but her daughter was safe and she asked what had happened as she saw her mother half naked. She told her she was raped and robbed and the daughter remembered that she had left the door unlocked incase her boyfriend came into the house at night (her daughter was quite a rebel). They called 911 for help and Patty’s life changed for the worse. When she was with police officers they asked her questions about the occurrence and they ended not believing that she was raped.
