Elie Wiesel was a famous writer, teacher, and activist. He was one of millions of Jews who was put into a concentration camp during WWII, but he was only one of a few Jews who actually survived. Eight years after Wiesel, and the Jews who were still alive, were freed, Elie published a Holocaust memoir, Night. It has now become a bestseller, and is an influential book to show what happened during the holocaust, and to remember those that died.
Elie Wiesel was only 15 when he and his family were sent to Auschwitz, Wiesel and his father were separated from the rest of their family.
