The story “night” by Elie Wiesel tells about his time spent at the two concentration camps Auschwitz and Buchenwald, during the holocaust. While he was there he lost friends, he lost family and, he lost his faith in god or that was even any god at all. At Auschwitz its better and the prisoners are nicer, the prisoners are allowed to sleep. Elie doesn’t eat his first meal, a plate of thick soup, but everything is a lot better with people sitting and talking with each other. For weeks the prisoners follow a schedule of meals then roll call and then bed. At Auschwitz Elie and his father meet a relative, Stein of Antwerp, who wants to know about his family, Elie lies to him, telling him that his family is well. The man is able to live until he finds out the truth. At Buna Elie is put into a good unit, the musician's block. All he has to do is work in a warehouse. He meets a violin player named Juliek and also two brothers named Yossi and Tibi. Elie’s father is placed in the same block also. Elie goes to the dentist to get his crown removed, but he gets sick twice and is able to keep it. However, they beat his father until …show more content…

His father ignores them two, although most prisoners do celebrate the holidays. The guards have new a selection for the crematories right after the New Year and Elie runs as fast as possible. He passes, but his father does not. Luckily, however, his father tells the officers that he is still strong and is able to escapes death. In winter Elie’s foot swells up, and he has to go to the hospital to get it amputated. He is told to escape the hospital because all the injured are going to the furnace. The doctor for Elie is kind, and he amputates his leg then tells him that he will be able to walk soon, however, the camp is to be evacuated because the Russian army is approaching.
