Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand is a outstanding book that illustrates how a young man tranformed from a mischievous child into a legendary survivor. This book was truly inspiring and raised so many emotions within myself while reading. The author’s overall purpose for writing the book was tell the incredible story of Louie Zamperini, who has faced alot of struggles and success throughout his lifetime. Hillenbrand develops Louie’s character throughout the book, uses detailed imagery, good organization, and a great way of evoking strong emotions within her audience. The first strategy the author used to prove her point was the way she developed Louie throughout the book. An example of this would be the way she started off by introducing him as a mischeiveous boy every since he was two years old, jumping out of the window, and then being chased down by the police. In the years to follow all the way up until his early teen years, Louie was robbing and stealing everything he could manage to get his hands on. Later on, with help from his older brother Pete, Louie began to calm his troublesome ways down and start playing sports and running. She did this by allowing us to connect with Louie, by explaing his journey throughout life. The transformation he made and the terrifying situations he endured once the bomber crashed was gut wrenching and extremly emotional for anyone reading. Louie and his fellow surviors went through absolute torture while fighting to make it make it home. They endured extreme tempatures, no food, no water, or any of the supplies they needed to live. Louie faught and made a way for himself and others, which brought nothing but tears of joys to my eyes. To know that a book can cause so many emotions was a great experience, and Hillenbrand most defiently proved her overall
