Should Ponyboy be sent to foster care? Ponyboy is a 14 year old boy living with his brothers. His parents died 6 months ago. Foster care is a temporarily place, where children in bad situations are sent. Sending Ponyboy to foster care is the best choice because he will be able to get proper care, live in a good, stable home, and neither of his brothers have experience of child care. Ponyboy going to foster care, allows him to get the proper and correct caring required. In the book, Ponyboy and his brothers smoke cigarettes. Many people know that drugs such as cigarettes are bad and can cause breathing problems. Ponboy being in a foster care can help him stop smoking cigarettes and get his health better, before any more damage is done. Not only can it help with his health but also his diet. A diet is certain type of foods that gives a person nutrition. This diet can help Ponyboy have lots of energy, and eat foods with vitamin and calcium in it. However if Ponyboy is not sent to foster care his diet might not have foods that contain vitamins or calcium in it. If he does continue smoking, his throat will be damage more than it already is.
